Chop Suey - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. beef, cubed
    2 lb. pork, cubed
    2 large onions, chopped
    1 large bunch celery, chopped
    1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms
    1 small can bamboo shoots
    1 small can water chestnuts, sliced thin
    3 cans bean sprouts, drained (save liquid)
    salt and pepper to taste
    soy sauce to taste
    3 Tbsp. cooking oil
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. water
Preparation
    Brown meat.
    Put mushrooms, bamboo shoots, sliced water chestnuts and their liquids in a large pan.
    Add bean sprouts and 1/4 of the liquid.
    Add meat to vegetables.
    Fry onions and celery until they get a glossy look.
    Add to meat and vegetables.
    Add sugar, oil and soy sauce.
    Cook over medium heat.
    Cook about 40 to 45 minutes, then mix starch, water and a little liquid from bean sprouts and add to vegetables and meat.
    Cook 10 minutes more, then serve over rice or chow mein noodles.
