Five Hour Stew - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 medium onions, sliced or pearl onions
2 lb. good stew meat
1 large can tomatoes
6 carrots, cut in 1-inch pieces
1 c. celery, cut in 1-inch pieces
2 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
3 Tbsp. plus tapioca
3/4 c. bread crumbs
Preparation

Mix all of ingredients in casserole to be covered, sprinkling bread crumbs on last.
Cook stew in oven 5 hours at 250\u00b0.
Can dress this recipe up with a little Burgundy wine, mushrooms, potatoes or dumplings added near end of cooking time.
If using potatoes, add at beginning.
