Black Walnut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. seedless blackberry jam or preserves
    2/3 c. butter or margarine
    1 c. black walnuts
    4 eggs, separated
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Cream butter and sugar.
    Add beaten egg yolks, jam and buttermilk.
    Sift together the spice, soda and flour.
    Add alternately with milk and nuts. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into 4 prepared 8-inch cake pans and bake at 350\u00b0 until done.
