Mexican Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. cornmeal
    1 c. buttermilk or 1 c. milk and 1 Tbsp. vinegar
    2 eggs
    3/4 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 small cans chopped peppers
    1 small can cream-style corn
    1/2 lb. cheese
    1/2 lb. ground meat
    1/2 c. bacon drippings
Preparation
    Grate cheese.
    Brown meat; drain fat.
    Combine all ingredients except bacon drippings and cheese.
    Put drippings in pan or skillet; heat.
    Remove from heat and add 1/2 of cornmeal meat mixture into pan over hot drippings.
    Spread cheese over this. Add remainder of mixture over the cheese, spreading to edges.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
