Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. spice cake mix
    1/2 c. applesauce (1 c. to moist)
    4 eggs, unbeaten
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. orange extract
    1 lb. cut dates
    8 oz. whole candied cherries, drained
    8 oz. pineapple (candied) green, drained
    1 lb. walnut halves (4 c.)
    3/4 c. flour
Preparation
    Empty cake mix in large bowl.
    Add applesauce, eggs, salt and orange extract.
    Beat 3 minutes until smooth and creamy.
    Combine fruit, nuts and flour and mix well.
    Stir into batter mixing well. Line two 8 x 8 x 3-inch loaf pans with triple thickness of wax papers or 1 layer of brown paper sack and pour into pans.
    Line sides also.
    Bake in slow oven at 275\u00b0 for 2 3/4 hours.
    If gets dark on top before done, cover with paper whenever you want.
    Cool in pans.
    Wrap and store.
    Delicious.
