Potato Griddle Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. potatoes
    1 egg
    1 1/4 c. flour
    2 c. milk
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    dash of white pepper
    shortening or butter (for frying)
Preparation
    Beat egg and a little milk, then add flour and remaining milk while beating.
    Allow to stand for 2 hours.
    Wash, peel and grate potatoes.
    Add them to batter and blend thoroughly.
    Season.
