Raisin Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. raisins
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. each: cloves and nutmeg
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Add boiling water to raisins; cook for 5 minutes.
    Cool. Cream shortening and sugar together.
    Add eggs and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
    Add cooled raisins to creamed mixture; mix thoroughly.
    Sift flour.
    Measure and add salt, soda, baking powder and spices.
    Sift again.
    Add sifted dry ingredients and chopped nuts; blend well into mixture.
    Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet, spaced 2 to 3 inches apart.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
    Makes 6 dozen cookies.
