Puffy Coated Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 sweet Spanish onions
    2 eggs, separated
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 1/2 Tbsp. salad oil
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation
    Remove skins and slice onions 1/4 inch thick.
    Separate into rings.
    Beat egg yolks.
    Add buttermilk, oil and sift dry ingredients.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Fold into buttermilk mixture.
    Dip onion rings into batter.
    Fry a few at a time into oil heated to 375\u00b0.
