Amish Apple Butter - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 medium tart apples
    1 qt. sweet cider
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Quarter and core apples.
    Cook in cider until tender; force through sieve.
    Cook pulp until thick; stir often to prevent sticking.
    Cool about 30 minutes, then add remaining ingredients and cook on low heat for about 1 hour.
    Put in jars, leaving 1/2-inch from top, seal, then put in a large kettle with rack and boiling water.
    Process about 10 minutes.
    Makes 8 half pints.
