Denise Emery'S Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    3 c. quick oats
    1/2 c. nuts (if desired)
Preparation
    Mix sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla together.
    In a large bowl, mix flour, salt and soda together.
    Then add oats and nuts. Stir sugars, shortening and eggs into dry ingredients.
    Mix thoroughly and drop onto cookie sheet by teaspoonfuls.
    Be sure to leave space between them for spreading.
    Bake in preheated oven at 350\u00b0 until slightly brown.
    Remove before very brown for a softer cookie.
    Will be soft at first, but will firm up.
    Cool and ice with glaze, if you choose.
    A very thin glaze is best.
