Ingredients

2 1/2 lb. Texas pears
4 c. sugar
2 c. water
3 Tbsp. red hots
3-inch stick cinnamon
1 1/2 Tbsp. red food coloring
2/3 c. vinegar (add after pears are tender)
a few cloves (added if you like)
Preparation

Mix all together in a pot, then pour into jars.
When they start to turn pink, they are ready.
