Foolproof Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. lard
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1/2 c. cold water
    1 well beaten egg
    1 tsp. salt
    1 yeast cake
    1/4 c. lukewarm water
    flour to make a soft dough (about 4 c.)
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over sugar and lard.
    When lard is melted, add cold water.
    Add to this the eggs, salt and yeast cake, compressed and dissolved in lukewarm water.
    Add enough flour to make a soft dough.
    Put dough in icebox until ready to use.
