2 lb. potatoes, peeled and very thinly sliced
3 oz. Gruyere cheese, grated
10 fluid oz. whipping cream
1 garlic clove
1 tsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. water
salt and pepper
Preparation

Layer potatoes in buttered ovenproof dish.
Sprinkle a little salt between layers.
