Ora E. Stewart'S Cherry Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. cherry pie filling
    1 c. butter or margarine
    1 3/4 c sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    3 c. flour, sifted
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream oleo and sugar, then add one egg at a time (beating as for pound cake), then rest of ingredients.
    Spread 1/2 or little more of batter in oblong cake pan (9 x 13-inch).
    Spread on pie filling.
    Put the rest of batter on top by spoonfuls, trying to cover the cherries.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 about one hour.
    I put glaze of powdered sugar on top, when cooled.
