Beet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 Tbsp. cinnamon
    2 c. strong vinegar
    small young beets
Preparation
    Cook beets until tender; dip in cold water.
    Peel off skins. Mix ingredients for syrup.
    Pour over beets and simmer for 15 minutes.
    Pack into sterilized jars and seal.
