Divinity Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2/3 c. white syrup
    1/2 c. water
    2 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. nuts (pecans or walnuts)
Preparation
    Cook sugar, syrup and water until it forms a soft, but firm ball.
    Pour 1/2 of mixture over stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Return balance of syrup to fire and continue cooking until it forms a very hard ball.
    Pour into egg white mixture and continue beating. Add vanilla and nuts.
    Beat until very stiff.
    Pour in lightly buttered platter.
    Cool and cut into squares.
