Ingredients

3 lb. chicken
3 medium onions, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. ground ginger or 4 slices ginger root, grated
5 to 6 whole cloves
5 to 6 whole cardamon pods or 1/2 tsp. ground cardamon
1 to 2 cinnamon sticks or 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground coriander
1 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. ground red pepper
1 tsp. salt
1 c. yogurt
2 Tbsp. shredded coconut
2 Tbsp. raisins
1 c. water
2 Tbsp. oil
Preparation

In heavy pan, fry 2 tablespoons oil, onions and garlic until soft and lightly brown.
Add ginger, cloves, cardamon, cinnamon, coriander, cumin and red pepper.
Fry 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Add chicken, skinned and cut into pieces.
Brown on all sides.
Mix and add yogurt, coconut, raisins and water.
Cover with tight-fitting lid and simmer 35 to 45 minutes until chicken is tender.
Serve with rice.
Serves 4 to 5.
