Ingredients

1 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
6 eggs, separated
1 c. buttermilk
1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream the sugar and shortening until no sugar grains are left. Mix dry ingredients.
Fold in beaten egg yolks.
Add buttermilk and dry ingredients alternately.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Add flavorings.
Bake in greased Bundt pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until done.
Can be glazed.
This cake is better the second day.
