Ingredients

1 c. quick or old fashioned oats, uncooked
1 1/2 c. water
1/4 c. honey or brown sugar (light or dark)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. iodized salt
2 c. peeled apple slices or 3 medium apples, cored, peeled and sliced
1/2 c. raisins
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine (optional)

Making it in a crockery-lined slow cooker is a real winner, followed by the almost-as-good microwave version.
The slow cooker version is ready for eating when you come to the kitchen in the morning.
It's ideal for staggered eating hours.
