Frosted Daiquiri Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    baked 9-inch pie shell
    1 envelope unflavored gelatin
    2/3 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 egg yolks
    1/4 c. cold water
    1/2 c. fresh or canned lime juice
    1 tsp. grated lime or lemon rind
    green food coloring
    1/3 c. light rum
    3 egg whites
    1/3 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c. heavy cream, whipped
Preparation
    In double boiler top pan, combine gelatin with 2/3 cup sugar and salt; add egg yolks, water and lime juice and beat until blended.
    Cook over boiling water, stirring, until the mixture coats a spoon.
    Remove from heat.
    Tint pale green with food color.
    When the mixture is cool, stir in the rum.
    Refrigerate until the mixture is slightly thicker than unbeaten egg whites.
