Old-Timey Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sugar
2 c. applesauce
2 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
1/4 c. shortening
2 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. cinnamon
raisins and nuts (optional)

Preparation

Beat sugar and shortening together.
Heat applesauce.
Mix soda, allspice and cinnamon into applesauce.
Pour applesauce mixture into sugar and shortening.
Mix and add to flour mix. Pour into a greased and floured tube pan.
Slowly bake at 250\u00b0 until done.
