Swiss Steak With Potatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. round steak (3/4 inch thick)
    1/4 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. salt, divided
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 Tbsp. oil
    1 large onion, sliced
    1 medium clove garlic, crushed
    1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
    1/2 c. beef broth
    4 medium potatoes, quartered
Preparation
    Cook steak with mixture of flour, salt and pepper.
    With wooden mallet, pound steak between wax paper until 1/2 inch thick. Cut in serving pieces.
    Heat oil in a large skillet and add onion and garlic; saute until tender.
    Add tomatoes and broth.
    Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
    Add potatoes; cover and simmer 45 minutes. Makes 4 servings.
