Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
    1 1/2 c. white cornmeal (self-rising)
    3/4 c. plain flour
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 egg, beaten
    1 large onion, chopped fine
Preparation
    Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.
    Place cornmeal and flour in bowl.
    Add buttermilk and stir until mixed thoroughly. Add beaten egg, onion and dissolved yeast mixture.
    Mix thoroughly and drop from teaspoon into deep hot oil.
    Cook until golden brown.
    Serve immediately.
    Yields 10 servings.
