Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. lentils (1/2 bag)
    1 cubed carrot*
    1 cubed potato*
    2 stalks celery and leaves, cut up*
    1 medium onion, cut up*
    a little oil
    garlic powder to taste
    1 can tomato sauce
    2 hot dogs or sausage or 1 can Vienna sausage
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Wash the lentils.
    Place in a kettle.
    Add the carrot, potato, celery and leaves and onion.
    Cover with water; cook slowly for 1/2 hour.
    Check occasionally.
    Water may have to be added.
    After the 1/2 hour, add a little oil, garlic powder to taste and tomato sauce.
    Cook for 1 1/2 hours, covered.
    Check; it may need additional water.
    The last 15 minutes, slice the hot dogs or sausage and add.
    Just before serving, add a little salt to taste (no pepper).
