Pasta And Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dry Great Northern beans
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 whole carrot
    1/2 c. cooked diced ham
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/2 c. chopped celery
    2 qt. water
    1 (1 lb.) can stewed tomatoes
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. oregano
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. water
    1 c. ditalini (small macaroni)
Preparation
    Soak beans 8 hours or overnight.
    Rinse and drain.
    Combine beans, water, salt and carrot.
    Simmer in a 6-quart pot 2 hours or until beans are tender. Combine onion, celery, garlic, tomatoes, bay leaf, oregano, salt, pepper and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil.
    Simmer 30 minutes.
    Cook macaroni according to directions and drain. Cube carrot and combine all ingredients.
    Heat before serving.
    Makes 3 1/2 quarts.
