Rock Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 3/4 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. light corn syrup
    1 c. water
    1 tsp. Lorann flavoring (different flavors available)
    powdered sugar (optional)
    food coloring (optional)
Preparation
    Mix first 3 ingredients in a large heavy saucepan.
    Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
    Boil, without stirring, until temperature reaches 310\u00b0 or until drops of syrup form hard brittle threads in cold water.
    (Candy thermometer recommended.)
    Remove from heat.
    When boiling stops, add flavoring and food coloring.
