Apple Pie Filling - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. cornstarch
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
10 c. water
3 Tbsp. lemon juice
5 1/2 to 6 lb. apples, peeled, cored and sliced
Preparation

Cook sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and water until thick and bubbly.
Add lemon juice.
Pack apples into hot jars. Leave 1 inch headroom.
Fill with syrup.
Process in hot water bath; quarts 20 minutes, pints 15 minutes.
One quart makes 9-inch pie.
