Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gallon sliced cucumbers
    8 small onions sliced
    1/2 c salt
    2 sweet bell peppers sliced in strips
    3 c vinegar red or white
    5 c sugar
    1 1/2 tsp turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp celery seed
Preparation
    Put cucumbers, onions, salt, and peppers in large pan and cover with lots of ice cubes. Let stand 3 hours. Drain well; do not rinse. Mix the rest of the ingredients and place over medium heat and cook until cucumbers get yellow. Put into jars while hot.
