Bran Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 c. bran (1 box, not bran flakes)
    2 c. boiling water
    1 c. melted shortening (Crisco)
    3 c. sugar
    4 beaten eggs
    1 qt. buttermilk
    5 c. flour
    5 tsp. baking soda
    2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Put 2 cups bran in large mixing bowl; pour boiling water over top.
    Mix in shortening and rest of bran; add rest of ingredients and mix well.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
    Dough keeps in fridge for 6 weeks or more.
    Add raisins or nuts before baking.
