Bacon Corn Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 to 5 slices bacon, fried until crisp and drained on paper towel (save bacon drippings and use as substitute for oil)
    1 c. all-purpose flour
    1 c. cornmeal
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1/4 c. oil or melted shortening
    1 egg, slightly beaten
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 425\u00b0.
    Grease an 8 or 9-inch square pan.
    In medium bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt.
    Stir in remaining ingredients, beating by hand just until smooth.
    Sprinkle the batter with crumbled bacon before baking. Pour batter into prepared pan.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 18 to 22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
    Makes 9 servings.
