Rice Jamboree - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. chopped onion
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 c. canned peas
    1/4 c. liquid from peas
    2 1/2 c. (No. 2) canned tomatoes
    1/2 c. uncooked rice
Preparation
    Cook onions in heated shortening until lightly browned.
    Add beef and seasonings and cook until beef is brown.
    Add peas and remaining ingredients to meat mixture.
    Stir lightly.
    Place in 2-quart greased covered casserole dish.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 1 hour.
