Applesauce Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. white sugar
2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. shortening
1 qt. applesauce
2 c. raisins
2 c. dates, chopped fine
2 c. diced fruit mix
1 c. nut meats
7 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. soda in 2 Tbsp. hot water
1 tsp. salt
4 eggs, beaten

Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs and applesauce. Mix in fruit, nuts, soda, water, salt, flour and spices. Bake in slow oven at 300\u00b0 for 1 hour or until done. Makes 4 loaves.
