Cabbage Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large head cabbage, shredded (about 12 c.)
    1 onion, chopped
    6 Tbsp. butter or oleo, divided
    1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed cream or mushroom soup, undiluted
    8 oz. process American cheese, cubed
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/4 c. dry bread crumbs
Preparation
    Cook cabbage in salted boiling water until tender.
    Drain thoroughly.
    Cook 10 to 15 minutes.
    In skillet saute onion in 5 tablespoons butter until tender.
    Add soup and mix well.
    Add cheese and stir to melt.
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in cabbage, salt and pepper.
    Transfer to ungreased 2-quart baking dish.
    In a small skillet, cook crumbs in melted butter.
    Sprinkle over casserole.
    Bake, uncovered, at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 30 minutes.
    Serves 6 to 8 people or 11 people, if used on buffet.
