Ingredients

4 large onions, sliced thin
2 Tbsp. butter
2 cans condensed beef broth
1 soup can water
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
8 to 12 slices from tiny French loaf or hand rolls, toasted
4 to 6 (1/4-inch thick) slices Swiss or Parmesan cheese
Preparation

Cook onions in butter until tender, but not brown.
Add broth, water and Worcestershire.
Cover.
Simmer 20 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
