French Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1 1/2 c. warm water
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. soft shortening
    4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    sprinkle of cornmeal
    sprinkle of dry yeast into 1/2 c. warm water until dissolved
Preparation
    Put sugar, salt and shortening in a very large bowl.
    Add remaining cup of very warm water and stir until ingredients have dissolved.
    Add yeast mixture.
    Mix well.
    Add flour and stir until batter is smooth.
