Christmas Stollen - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 c. warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
3/4 c. lukewarm water
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 c. soft shortening
3 1/2 to 3 3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. chopped almonds
1/4 c. cut up citron
1/4 c. candied cherries, cut up
1 c. raisins
1 Tbsp. grated lemon rind
Preparation

In a bowl, dissolve yeast in water.
Measure flour; add milk, sugar, salt, egg, shortening and half the flour to yeast.
Mix with spoon until smooth.
Add chopped almonds, citron, cherries, raisins and lemon rind.
Mix well.
Add enough of the remaining flour to handle easily.
