Bread Pudding With Meringue - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    grated rind of 1 orange
    2 eggs
    1/4 tsp. salt
    8 Tbsp. sugar
    few grains of nutmeg
    2 c. stale bread cubes
    almond extract
    red jelly
Preparation
    Scald milk and a little orange rind.
    Beat 1 whole egg and 1 egg yolk with salt, 6 tablespoons sugar and nutmeg.
    Pour hot milk into egg mixture.
    Add bread.
    Turn into 1-quart baking dish.
    Set in pan of hot water and bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for about 35 minutes or until just barely set.
    Just before serving, top with meringue made from remaining egg white, 2 tablespoons sugar and a few drops of almond extract.
    Garnish with bits of red jelly.
