Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. butter
    1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Combine first 3 ingredients in thick saucepan.
    Cook on medium-low heat.
    Use a candy thermometer.
    Stir constantly until it reaches 300\u00b0.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Pour quickly into ungreased 15 x 10-inch pan.
    Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
    Allow to stand 2 minutes.
    Spread chocolate chips evenly over toffee and sprinkle nuts on top.
    Allow to harden.
    Break in pieces and serve.
