Oatmeal Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. quick cooking oats
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 egg
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. melted shortening
Preparation
    Soak oatmeal in buttermilk 1 hour.
    Add egg and beat well. Add sugar and mix.
    Add flour, sifted with salt, baking powder and baking soda.
    Add cool shortening.
    Bake in greased muffin pans in hot oven (400\u00b0) for 15 to 20 minutes.
    Makes 1 dozen.
