T & R'S Special Salsa - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. chopped tomatoes
    2 c. chopped onions
    2 c. chopped jalapenos or less to taste
    1 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. vinegar (to be added later)
Preparation
    Cook first 5 ingredients gently for 45 minutes.
    Then add vinegar.
    Cook slowly until thick (several hours), stirring often. Keep flats and jars in pan of hot water before canning.
    Fill jars.
    Wipe edge of jars clean, put on lids and turn upside down overnight.
