Pease Porridge Hot - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 slices bacon
    3/4 c. chopped onions
    2 (11 1/4 oz. each) cans condensed green pea soup
    3 cans (4 c.) water
    1 1/3 c. Minute rice
    3/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cook bacon in large saucepan until crisp.
    Remove bacon; drain on absorbent paper and crumble.
    Reserve 2 tablespoons drippings. Cook and stir onions in reserved drippings until tender and lightly browned.
    Add soup, then gradually mix in water.
    Bring to a full boil.
    Add rice, salt and bacon.
    Cover; remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes.
    Makes 8 servings.
