Puffy French Toast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 slices white, wheat or nut bread
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    1 egg
    1 c. biscuit mix (Bisquick)
Preparation
    Combine milk, egg and biscuit mix in bowl.
    Cut each bread slice in half diagonally and dip in batter, coating completely. Heat shortening in skillet.
    Saute bread until golden brown and puffy, about 3 minutes on each side.
    Serve with maple syrup.
