Mincemeat Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. shortening
    6 c. sugar
    1 doz. eggs
    13 c. flour
    2 tsp. salt
    4 tsp. baking soda
    8 c. mincemeat
    5 c. chopped apples
Preparation
    Cream together shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs, a few at a time, beating after each addition.
    Sift together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture.
    Mix in mincemeat and apples.
    Bake in 2 (16 1/2 x 26-inch) pans in a 350\u00b0 oven for 35 to 40 minutes.
