Hoppin John - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    9 slices bacon
    2 medium onions, chopped
    2 c. water
    2 pkg. frozen black-eyed peas
    1 c. raw rice
    1/2 stick butter or margarine
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Cut bacon in small pieces and fry with onions until onions are golden brown.
    Cook rice in 2 cups water; cook black-eyed peas according to directions on package.
    Combine all.
    Add butter, salt and pepper and mix well.
    Makes 6 servings.
