Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1 c. white Karo
    1 tsp. salt
    3 tsp. butter
    2 tsp. soda
    1 c. peanuts
Preparation
    Bring sugar, water and Karo to a boil.
    Boil until mixture spins a thread about 5 inches long.
    Add peanuts, stirring constantly.
    Cook until mixture turns a golden brown.
    Remove from fire and add salt and butter.
    Stir.
    Add soda, stirring hard. Pour immediately into a large ungreased cookie sheet.
    Spread thin.
    Allow to cool, then break into pieces.
    Store in covered containers.
