Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. heavy cream
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. corn syrup
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. butter
    6 Tbsp. evaporated milk
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Heat first 4 ingredients in a large saucepan to soft boil stage. Add butter and evaporated milk quickly. Stir constantly. Heat to 242\u00b0, then remove from heat. Add vanilla and stir.
    Pour into greased 9 x 9-inch pan.
    When cool, cut into squares and wrap in wax paper.
