Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cut up cucumbers
    4 sliced onions
    1 qt. vinegar (cider)
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. black pepper (optional)
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. dry mustard
    1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Soak cucumbers and onions in salted water 5 hours or overnight.
    Drain.
    Bring to a boil the vinegar, sugar, pepper, celery seed, dry mustard and turmeric.
    Add cucumbers to boiling mixture and boil until cucumbers change color.
    Seal boiling hot. Makes 8 pints.
