Savory Pot Roast - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 4 lb. beef round or chuck pot roast
    2 Tbsp. hot oil
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1 pouch dry onion soup mix
    1 c. water
    6 potatoes, scrubbed or peeled and quartered
    6 carrots, cut in 2-inch pieces
Preparation
    Note:
    A couple of small onions also may be added.
