Congo Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 3/4 c. flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 1/2 c. brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 c. walnuts
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits
Preparation
    Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt.
    Melt shortening and add brown sugar.
    Stir.
    Allow to cool.
    Add eggs one at a time; beat well.
    Add dry ingredients, nuts and chocolate bits. Pour into greased 15 x 10-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until done and toothpick comes out clean.
    Cut when cool.
    Makes 24 bars.
