Shoo-Fly Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. molasses
2 c. hot water
1 c. light brown sugar
1 tsp. soda (scant)
5 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. light brown sugar
1 c. shortening (scant)
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation

To make the syrup, mix together the first 4 ingredients until they are dissolved.
Use 1 cup or more of syrup per 9-inch pie shell.
Then mix the remaining ingredients to crumb consistency. Pour the syrup into unbaked pie crusts and divide the crumbs over top.
Bake them for 10 minutes at 450\u00b0, for 30 minutes more at 375\u00b0, then for 30 minutes longer at 350\u00b0.
This recipe makes 4 pies.
